For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A 42-year old female, with a 2 year history of GORD, presented with dysphagia. Endoscopy revealed a “z-line” 20cm below the incisors and re-epithelialisation by goblet cells in the mid-oesophagus.
2. A 28-year old vegan developed tiredness and weight loss over the past few months. Conjunctival pallor was noted and there was no GI bleeding found after investigation. MCV= 103 and Hb = 10.5g/dl.
3. Abnormal pattern of growth in the gastrointestinal tract that is confined to the basement membrane with presence of pleimorphic nuclei.
4. A 44-year old lady presented with a 4 day history of abdominal pain. She was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis following a 2 month history of joint pain in the wrist, and has just started treatment with Aspirin.
5. A 65-year old man presented with a 3 month history of weight loss, changed bowel habit and dysphagia. He is a long term smoker and has suffered with reflux problems for many years. Histology revealed large keratinising cells and patches of fibrous stroma, with invasion of the muscularis propria.
